SPACE TECHNOLOGY

This proposal seeks to finalize the design of the Launch Environment Data Logger (LEDL) and the Imager (IMG) subsystems for the Alaska Research CubeSat 2 (ARC-2). Both science payloads have initial designs, but they are entering the stage need to be finished and tested for flight. The launch data provided from LEDL will help future CubeSat designers understand the severity of a launch environment the CubeSats need to withstand in order to be functional when they arrive at orbit. LEDL’s mission data will enhance space access and services (NASA Strategic Objective 2.4). IMG will take pictures of the Arctic environment in support of NASA desire to understand the Earth system and its climate (NASA’s Strategic Objective 1.1)
