This proposal is for the design and construction of a Multipole Plasma Trap (MPT) in the UAA Plasma Physics Lab. This research project on the MPT experiment will allow for the study and analysis of the behavior of radio-frequency (RF) electric multipole field trapping of plasma particles, as well as magnetic field effects on the trapping. It will use RF quadrupoles or higher order RF multipoles as experimental apparatus, and will make frequent use of software such as SolidWorks and Comsol Multiphysics to effectively model a working design.
