The Launch Company
The Launch Company (TLC), located in Anchorage, Alaska, is a startup aerospace company specializing in the design of rocket launch sites & standardized flight hardware for commercial and government space operators; rockets, launch sites, satellites, and balloons. TLC is seeking two interns to aid in the development of these projects in our Anchorage, AK facility. Work includes but is not limited to:
Selection of componentry such as valves, pumps, filters, piping, etc. for a multitude of different commodities.
Procurement of selected components with vendors
Engineering trade development
Development of schematics and drawings for launch fluidic systems.
Calculation of piping losses, analysis of incompressible flow systems, analysis of compressible flow systems, and proper sizing of piping and vessels.
Analysis of mechanical interfaces, linkages, fittings, interfaces, and kinematics.
Concept of Operations (CONOPs) development
Procedure, test, and countdown checklist development
A successful applicant will demonstrate an independent, curious mindset coupled with a very good attitude. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must. Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and hands-on tooling/machining/assembly project experience are required. An ability to balance multiple assignments & present findings is also required.
Applicants should have at least junior standing with a background in engineering (mechanical engineering preferred). Students must be enrolled in an Alaskan institute of higher education to qualify. Internships will be conducted in Anchorage, AK. Stipend is $5,000. No housing or transportation is provided.
