Alaska NASA EPSCoR is currently funded through a NASA research Infrastructure Development (RID) grant. The overarching goals of this NASA EPSCoR RID proposal are to increase Alaska’s ability to respond to research and technology development needs of NASA and the State and to partner with Alaska’s aerospace industry to expand the space-related capabilities within the State. To support these objectives the following opportunities are available to Faculty working at an Alaskan institute of higher education.
Partnership Development Travel Grants Provided to early career faculty, or mid-career faculty seeking to realign their research focus, to create collaborative partnerships with NASA centers and Alaska’s burgeoning aerospace industry. The goal of this funding is to encourage Alaska faculty to collaborate directly with NASA researchers in the development of future research proposals. Funding is available for travel to a NASA center to facilitate this collaboration. Funding amount $1,000 total direct costs per award. Research Initiation Grants
Provided to early career faculty, or mid-career faculty seeking to realign their research focus to develop research grants in collaboration with NASA centers. A research initiation grant is designed to give a PI initial funding for a research topic that is relevant to NASA and its strategic objectives. The goal is for the research to mature so the PI can submit a competitive proposal to one of the NASA's regular grant programs (http://nspires.nasaprs.com/external) . Funding amount $20,000 total direct costs per award.
